Venturing Oath and Bylaws for Venture Crew 95 I. Preamble-Venturing Oath As a Venture, I promise to help strengthen America, to be faithful in my religious duties, to help others, and to seek truth, fairness, and adventure in our world. II. Crew Bylaws A. Objectives The objectives of Crew No. 95 are 1. Emphasis on High Adventure and outdoor activities. 2. Service-To the community and others 3. Career 4. To have fun, learn new skills and experience leadership B. Membership Membership shall be open to all young adults 15 years old or 14 and finished 8th grade. No prospective member shall be disqualified because of race, color, creed, or sex. All members must be registered as Ventures and agree to the crew oath and bylaws. All new members will undergo a 90 day probationary period before final acceptance by the crew. Membership will include the following but not limited to: a. Physical ability b. Attitude c. Attendance d. Team work Membership in Crew 95 is limited to 8 youth, due to logistical constraints such as permits on outings and transportation. Youth wishing to join will be put on a waiting list for a position to become available. A membership committee made up by the crew officers and advisors will make the final decision. C. Officers

The elected officers shall be president, two
vice presidents, secretary, treasurer, historian, and store keeper. The
president, with the approval of the Advisor, shall appoint activity chairs
and make other assignments as needed. The duties of the officers shall be
as prescribed in the Venture Leader Handbook.

The normal term of office shall be for one
year. Elections will be held every September.

No member shall serve more than two successive
terms in the same office.

On the night of the election, nominations may be
presented from the floor by any member. If the nomination is seconded, he
or she must be included on the ballot. 5. All contested ballots shall be secret. D. Crew Business Voting on all issues will be by simple majority, with the exception of changes or amendments to the bylaws, which will require a two-thirds vote of the total membership. A quorum shall consist of one more than the majority of members for votes on routine business. E. General Meetings General meetings will be held bi weekly or as scheduled F. Officer’s Meetings Officers meetings shall be held at least once a quarter. G. Website Crew 95 has a link at www.bsatroop95.org, which shall include all meeting dates and other information of interest to the membership. H. Dues Dues will be $10.00 per month, payable quarterly or at any time within the quarter. Members delinquent in dues payments for six months or more will be dropped from the post roster. I. Money-Earning Projects All money-earning projects must be approved by a majority vote of crew members. Members who do not participate in a project are not entitled to any benefits of the funds earned. All money-earning projects must be approved by the Advisor and meet the Boy Scouts of America requirements. J. Behavior and Termination From the Crew Behaviors that will result in automatic termination from the crew: promiscuity, drugs, alcohol, knives (other than those used for outdoor activities or approved by the advisors) and possession of firearms (unless they are being used in an official crew activity). Behavior that will not be tolerated: profanity, smoking by any crew member other than adult advisors, fighting, public displays of affection (other than married advisors), possession and use of fireworks, any behavior deemed inappropriate for the activity or setting. A discipline committee made up of the crew officers and advisors will decide on the appropriate measure to be taken for infractions of the rules. Those who do not wish to abide by the rules set down by the crew need not continue their association with the crew. These rules will apply to all crew members, as well as their guests. All crew members who bring guests to activities will insure that the guests know the rules ahead of time. All adults and advisors associated with the crew members, the parents of the crew member, the crew committee, and the crew advisors will meet to discuss the matter. Parents are always welcome at crew meetings and activities. K. Activities There will be at least one crew activity a month. Once a quarter there will be a super crew activity. All activities will be scheduled with as much advance notice as possible. Every member is required to do 10 service hours to participate in crew activities. New members will have plenty of time to earn hours. L. Crew Committee The crew committee will be made up of advisors, parents, and any interested adults. The crew committee shall meet once a quarter. The purpose of the crew committee is to insure the smooth running of the crew and to deal with potential problems and conflicts. A minimum of three advisors must vote on any issue. M. Uniforms The official class B crew uniform is the brown T-shirt with logo. It will be worn to and from all activities. 2-2006 crew 95 2005-2006
